Victor Moreno Named Atlantic Cape’s 2024 Employee of the Year

MAYS LANDING — Atlantic Cape Community College announced Victor Moreno, senior manager, Special Projects for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, as its 2024 Employee of the Year during a breakfast ceremony on Monday, January 8 at the Mays Landing campus.

In recognition of this honor, Atlantic Cape President Dr. Barbara Gaba presented Moreno with a commemorative plaque, an Amazon gift card and a reserved parking space for one year. Each full-time employee who was nominated received an Amazon gift card as well. Gaba also commended the 39 full-time employees, who were nominated for this year’s award, for their dedication to the college, its staff, students and alumni, and for their longevity as well.

2024 Employee of the Year Victor Moreno shows his surprise“What a surprise,” said an enthusiastic Moreno. “I share this with everyone here. We all enjoy working here. Many of us have been here for many years and we all do it because we all generally love what we do and we all strive to service our students and staff and be as welcoming to everyone as possible. It is a true joy working here at the college, it has been a pleasure and thank you everyone.”

Moreno began his career at Atlantic Cape in 2009 as a part-time employee in the Counseling and

Support Services department. In 2013, he was appointed to the full-time position of Education Opportunity Fund Office Coordinator. Since 2013, Moreno has been promoted several times including being named Specialist for the Center for Accessibility and NJ Stars Program Advisor, College Recruiter, Senior Manager of Campus Operations and Community Outreach as well.

He recently led the effort of relocating more than 60 staff members to new office locations across the Mays Landing campus while the One-Stop Welcome Center’s construction was being completed. His leadership allowed staff and operations employees to seamlessly continue their daily responsibilities without disruption in services. Moreno also contributes to the college by serving as Latin Club Advisor and the Campus Closet Attendant.

Moreno, who resides in Pleasantville, earned his Associate in Arts Degree in Liberal Arts & Education from Atlantic Cape in 2009. Victor is a champion for the greater Atlantic City Community and works tirelessly to connect the college to the communities it serves. He is ever-present for internal and external community events.

Atlantic Cape annually recognizes its full-time support staff members who have helped most to make the college a place where students are comfortable, where staff members are pleasant and efficient, and where visitors feel welcome. The ideal candidate makes suggestions or performs in a way that creates a safer, more attractive, or more efficient environment for his/her area and for the college community, thereby promoting excellent customer service. To be eligible for nomination, an employee must be employed at the college for at least one year and have not been an employee of the year for at least three years.
